More about MR.T VERSUS
The announcement by Mohawk Media on 1st April 2008 of a series of comic book crossovers called MR. T VERSUS, beginning with MR. T VERSUS DRACULA, certainly attracted a lot of attention and feedback the world over.
Besides numerous press inquiries and review copy requests, fans of Mr. T, comics, and horror, unanimously gave their blessing to, and desire for, such a crossover.
Many major websites also reported on it. These included: Icons of Fright, Comic Book Resources, Contactmusic, NewsBlaze, ReelComix, Horror-Movies, 2snaps.TV, Starpulse, The Comic Fanatic, PopCultureShock, and even New York Magazine and newspaper The News Tribune.
So, was it all an elaborate April Fool’s Day joke?
Half.
The official MR. T VERSUS webpage shows 4 covers purporting to be from the series.
Mohawk Media are in fact actively looking into publishing MR. T VERSUS DRACULA and MR. T VERSUS DINOSAUR-MAN at some point in the future, more than likely after the summer 2008 worldwide launch of the MR. T GRAPHIC NOVEL (MR. T: LIMITED ADVANCE EDITION available now.)
And while the other 2 covers on show may be “duds”, nothing more than part of the April Fool’s Day tradition, Mohawk Media would be interested in the possibility of making these actually happen.
Perhaps then, Mohawk Media’s celebration of April Fool’s Day, a day of dedication to Mr. T and his immortal catchphrase, “I pity the fool!”, has left nobody in need of pity after all.
